Under PPP Divided we are trying to Stand

As they say, divided we fall, united we stand, After 2008 General election in Pakistan PPP led by famous Mr.10% of corruption Asif Ali Zardari party came into power in Pakistan with major vote bank in National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies of Sindh, NWFP (now known as KP), Baluchistan and Punjab. PPP made govt in all provinces of Pakistan, though after approximately 3 years, they were removed from the folds of Punjab Govt due to differences with PMLN over governance, Punjab was the only province where PPP lack simple majority though still managed to bagged 25 – 30 % of Punjab vote bank. Pakistan is a country which lacks in education and educated people that’s why as soon as PPP came into power they removed the clause of being graduated MNA,MPA from the constitution of Pakistan which paved the way for fake degree holders and uneducated people into to assemblies of Pakistan who will be writing the fate of 35% of educated Pakistanis and so as 65% uneducated Pakistani’s through constitution of Pakistan which is supreme so as Judiciary though most of the time a circus being played b/w the two and watched by whole Pakistan who is supreme and when is supreme. The point of the post is to highlight how this democratically elected govt of PPP has divided Pakistan and Pakistanis into ethnic/linguistic basis and has pushed Pakistan into corners of darkness surrounded by called and uncalled evils

1) After 62 years of no concrete and logical movement by any party PPP govt changed the name of one of the province from NWFP to KP (Khyber Pakthunkhwa). This name changed is done purely on the basis of linguistic and ethnic lines resulting in divide among the other dialects in NWFP province.

2) People in the city of Karachi are more divided among ethnic lines than ever before after being backed by PPP for major foot step in next elections. After this political game of ethnic hatred incited by PPP, Karachi is facing a major violence in its history where the violence has become daily routine but occasionally the peace visits the city too when a statement is issued from GHQ or Army Chief regarding deteriorating situation in the city.

3) The new demand of PPP is to make new province in Punjab, demand of new provinces are in no way illogical keeping in mind the population of Punjab  but again the idea behind is to divide the province on linguistic and ethnic basis i.e giving way to division among common Pakistani who are sick and tired of being called Mohajir read Indian, Sindhi, Baloch, Pathan, Saraiki and so on.

4) In my opinion when it is a matter of state prosperity, the state should dictate terms to people and that should have happened with Local Government System in Pakistan which certainly helps and helped during 2000 – 2008 in bringing new people into politics i.e at Union Council level and results in election then selection of approximately 85,000 local government representative across Pakistan, though PPP govt led by Mr.10% Asif Ali Zardari chooses to transfer this power to Provinces which abolished the local Govt system and chooses to continue with Commissionaire System

5) Since PPP govt came into power every year flood seems to be the destiny of Pakistan into rural and some urban areas where every year the water pour into the villages of poor people and no concrete policy of building barrages has been adopted yet by PPP.

6) Power shortage and PPP corrupt deal on rental power plant is clearly visible when Rental Power Plant from Turkey is standing on the coast of Karachi being not utilized and common Pakistani’s paying the price of 10 million to their staff, maintenance and contract cost.

The list of PPP govt incompetency and evil plans to divide Pakistanis is long but one can only feel disappointed that these elected people are not only corrupt but their politics of dividing common Pakistani’s into ethnic and linguistic basis is resulting in more and more venom against common people and certainly resulting in more and more Pakistani’s to flee the country.

The only panacea and ‘feudocracy’ – By Syed Mustafa Kamal

Originally Published in http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2011/03/09/story_9-3-2011_pg7_18

IF we go through the history of Pakistan, we find out that we as a nation and country are scared to pass on responsibility to our own people where we shy away from sharing power and centralise power as a psyche. While a lot has been said about the problems of Pakistan, which start from the break down of law and order to deteriorating health and education standards to the increasing radicalisation and religious fanaticism in the country to military intervention, etc, and while great intellectuals give great ‘Alice in Wonderland-like’ solutions, it is important to actually discuss solutions on the merit of their practicality and more important solution via which medium?

For instance, we talk that good governance should be taken to the doorstep of the citizens but the question I ask is how? And more importantly via which vehicle or carrier? I, as an administrator of one of the world’s biggest city, Karachi, have learned and experienced that good intentions need to be materialised and that action alone could solve our problems. Unfortunately, we as a nation often tend to live in a fool’s paradise and this criminal naiveté of ours after over sixty years remains our biggest enemy.

The issues: The only panacea is complete devolved local government system with full financial and administrative authority throughout the country without any contamination and impediments. China is one example, which despite being a communist country, has a robust local government system which helped it develop into one of the biggest economies of the world and it’s growing. It is estimated that by 2025, China would have 200 more cities with a population of over one million. I have observed that it’s the feudal mindset which has blossomed centralisation due to its vested interests which has successfully hijacked our way of governance and thus stops people’s participation in the government. Hence, lack of participation creates lack of ownership by the people thus creating frustration within society.

This fascist feudalistic mindset which stops people’s participation in the government remains universal in Pakistan and has been transferred from generation to another in the name of democracy. In reality it is what I brand as “feudocracy”. This “feudocracy”, which is the combo of feudal and ruling elite, unfortunately stands against the most basic type of democracy, ie, the local government system which gives commoners a chance to participate in the government and where real devolution of power takes it roots.

The solution: Coming back to our issue, how to break this vicious circle? The answer is, through the revival of empowered local bodies system in Pakistan. Let me raise this question myself. What is the assurance that the feudals will not participate in the local body elections? There’s no assurance as we cannot stop anyone frin participating in the polls, but there is a difference between becoming a mayor/district nazim of a district and becoming an MNA or MPA. Let me explain. There are three tiers of a local government system in Pakistan. District level, town level and union council level. On average, one district consists of 500 elected members, which include town mayors, union council mayors and councilors. Moreover, out of 13 members in one union council, four women councilors’ representation is compulsory. Thus, throughout Pakistan, there are 85,000 elected local government representatives at one time.

The biggest disadvantage of LG system for the corrupt feudal families is that they can produce a candidate from their family for district mayors and win but they won’t have hundreds of people in their family to become town mayors, union council mayors and councilors. They will be compelled to give these seats to the people out of their family, belonging to the middle-class and lower-middle-class of society; hence, district mayor (the feudal son) will always be at a mercy of his town mayors, union mayors and councilors because they will be his voters and if he loses their respect, he will loose the support of town and UC which would affect his mayorship/nizamat. This sociological impact was seen in districts during the last tenure which produced many young and newer breed of politicians. So, the system acts an ecosystem between the mayor and its elected municipal team which keeps everyone in check. As a result, sense of participation will emerge in the minds and hearts of the middle and lower-middle-class people of Pakistan and they would feel their importance, something that is absent today, hence the everyday mob violence. Statistically speaking, the number of mob-related violence has increased 300 percent since the local government system, which is the first tier of government, was dissolved.

Through a sense of participation, sense of ownership will come in society and in time, a new middle-class and lower-middle-class leadership will emerge in Pakistan. This will be the time when the country will come out from the current vicious circle our country is in, and then only can we proudly say, “Yes, there is democracy in Pakistan”.

Pakistan Should Say NO To USAID

When a child starts to learn how to stand on his feet, how to move, how to walk he needs a prop up in the beginning from his parents, so that he can learn how to fix his feet on the ground, usually the parents initially buy a child walker, the parents teach him not to walk from toes in beginning and how to hold on to something when he is feeling like he is going to fall down, this unconditional love from parents to the child is natural which teaches him lot of lessons while running away and towards different objects and worldly things which some of them he can touch and some of it shouldn’t be touch in his age where he doesn’t know the difference of good and bad.

On the other hand some of us are not born lucky, some are born with defects it can be mental, physical or both, in other cases some faces harsh reality in the beginning, middle or end of life when struck by catastrophe, accident, mistake or crime. Imagine a case of person who lost his leg or legs in any of the mentioned event either catastrophically, accidentally, or by involving in criminal or corruption activity, the fact of the matter is he has to live his life with his lost leg, the options are not vast, either he will choose his life to live on the mercy of begging, dependence on relatives, neighbors or strangers if any, or he can choose to stay self reliant by doing any kind of small chores, the examples of these scenario is vast in our society where blind cricketers are usually ending up in winning the world cups, limpers selling fruits, vegetables and newspaper but if I am not mistaken the majority ones are begging on the streets.

The Pakistan case for the above scenario seems similar, Pakistan faced the catastrophic events of devastating floods and earthquakes, made the mistake of fighting Afghan war, survived the accident of fall of Dhaka, begging for the USAID for the criminal politicians and corrupt Generals. Though still optimist believe, Pakistan hasn’t lost it’s either leg yet but by and large accept the fact that both legs are in pain of zillion of fractures and the majority of fractures in both legs are either due to its neighborhood policies on east or west. Whether giving justification of succumbing to US pressure due to Indian threat or facing the consequences of Afghan war which influxes the 5 million Afghans into Pakistan is a complete story in itself all together.

Recently American consulate worker killed 4 Pakistani’s in Lahore, Pakistan, 2 of them directly with his gun and 1 of them was crushed by consulate car , the 4th loss of life was of a female who committed suicide because she couldn’t bear the fact that her husband murderer has been given VIP treatment keeping in mind the comparison of Pakistani Scientist Dr. Aafia whose condition gets so worsened in US custody that even the International Human rights organization condemned it, but the American Government and Judiciary sentenced her for 86 years of imprisonment for an “Attempt to Murder” Case. Even being a liberal somewhere in our heart, all of us know that what US does is in its interest, keeping us limited to “Beggars are not Choosers” treatment.

The question is, till when Pakistani nation will stay and act like silent spectator and would do nothing when they are being treated as beggars are not choosers, which in reality the common man is not begging, the begging is simply done by corrupt politicians and army generals for filling their own pockets, if indeed this 63 years of begging has given some outcome, we wouldn’t be in stranded situation like we are. By large Pakistani’s saw and take relation and AID of US for students as to convert them into Liberal fascists, drone strikes for killing civilians instead of terrorists, analyzes US involved in great game through actors like Raymond davis.

Moving forward the best case for Pakistan is to say NO to USAID and have relation with US based on equal interests, initially it would be difficult and it would be made to look impossible for saying NO to USAID because what we are suggesting is indirect eradication of bread and butter from some powerful sources within Pakistan who are ruling Pakistan since birth by hook or crook either it’s military generals or Monarchist politicians. The powerful sources and the so called liberals might suggest saying NO to USAID will led to destruction of Pakistan and Pakistan might being end up like Afghanistan, Iraq or Burma but why not look at

Korean war (1950 – 53) after which North Korean president adopted a policy of diplomatic and economic of self dependence and most importantly independent foreign policy.

Also why not look at Chinese revolution of Mao Zedong

When during the revolutionary period Mao Zedong of China asked his nation to keep with them hot water and peas for drinking and eating.

Or Why not look at Iran

When Ayatollah Khomeni ended a shah regime when Iran situation was of same like Pakistan where military and politicians all were riding in the boat of US hegemony

Shumaila Faheem committed suicide because she knew she was weak, she was poor, Pakistan is a nation who is fighting US war, Pakistan is being treated like beggars and hence she knew she would end up living her life in disappointment that her husband murderer would be released and already been given VIP treatment for killing  a Pakistani in the heart of Punjab. Hence being weak instead of fighting her case she chooses the simple path and ended her life, God knows tomorrow it can happen to anyone, now it happened in Lahore, tomorrow it can be the biggest city of Pakistan, Karachi where US is building its largest consulate in the world.

The choice is in Pakistan hands, will Pakistanis say NO to USAID and are we are going to

Change Pakistan course to be self dependent and prepare Pakistan to face hardships, but one thing is sure these hardships will help Pakistan develop indefinite power to shape its future.

Pakistan political regime equals Sharif’s, Bhutto’s and Zardaris

The Sharif’s Family and The Bhutto’s family figured out they will oppress and rule sleepy Pakistani nation for decades then they will let their son’s i.e Hussain Nawaz, Hamza Shahbaz and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to take over, that defines Pakistan politics

  • PML – Nawaz Sharif :- Nawaz Sharif has already been 2 times Chief Minister of Punjab, 2 times Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif 3 times Chief Minister of Punjab. Hamza Shahbaz and Hussain Nawaz waiting in wings to become Chief Minister of Punjab and Prime minister of Pakistan respectively.
  • PPP – Bhutto’s and Zardari’s :- Zulfiqar Bhutto 1 time Prime Minister Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto 2 times Prime Minister of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari Current President of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari waiting in wings to become next Prime Minister of Pakistan
