Top 10 Young Entrepreneurs

October 29, 2009

I recently started using twitter with an accidental click on captureuniverse tweet section on her blog.

I found out twitter petty simple, boring and developed without much futuristic vision(although i am excited in following Hilary duff and Ashley Tisdale :-) ) .

Hence my thinking was why we Pakistani professionals are not diving more in Entrepreneurship, although recently a Lahore based software company launched mobi2weet, Pakistan’s first SMS- based twitter application and other notable launch is by another Lahore-based Mindstorm Studios who launched world’s most sophisticated Cricket game (PC).

Sticking onto the subject of the post, i came through a list of Top 10 Young Entrepreneurs which can be found here

Top 10 Young Entrepreneurs

For me most notable Entrepreneurs in the list are

Mark Zuckerberg founder of Facebook

and

Dave Hyatt and Blake Ross founder of Mozilla Firefox

both of these applications are/using  Open Source, means cost of the project would not be much as compared to companies like Microsoft, whose products you can only use by purchasing a license.

Anyhow it’s so inspiring to look and read about these top 10 Young Entrepreneurs, who has make a notable invention in Software and IT.

Happy Computing…

A programmer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, “If you kiss me, I’ll turn into a beautiful princess.” He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.frog

The frog spoke up again and said, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week.”

The programmer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket. The    frog then cried out, “If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I’ll stay with you and do anything you want.” Again the programmer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.wink

Finally, the frog asked, “What is the matter? I’ve told you I’m a beautiful princess that I’ll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won’t you kiss me?” The programmer said, “Look, I’m a programmer. I don’t have time for a girlfriend — but a talking frog, now that’s cool

Abraham Lincoln 16th US President(1861-1865)

September 24, 2009

Abraham Lincoln letter to his son’s teacher

abraham lincolnAbraham Lincoln, the 16th US President (1861-1865), was one of the world’s greatest statesman. He was the first Republican President. Abraham Lincoln was also the first American President to be assassinated. Here is a letter written by Abraham Lincoln to the headmaster of school in which his son was acquiring education. This will give readers a fair indication of Abraham Lincoln’s scholarly disposition. He Wrote,

  • He will have to learn. I know, that all men are not just, all men are not true. But teach him also that for every scoundrel there is a hero; that for every selfish politician, there is a dedicated leader….
  •

  • Teach him that for every enemy there is a friend. It will take time, I know; but teach him, if you can, that a dollar earned is of far more valueable than five found….
  •

  • Teach him to learn to lose and also to enjoy winning. Steer him away from envy, if you can.
  •

  • Teach him the secret of quite laughter. Let him learn early that the bullies are the easiest to lick…
  •

  • Teach him, if you can, the wonder of books… but also give him quite time to ponder over the eternal mystery of girds in the sky, beers in the sun, and flowers on a green hill-side.
  •

  • In School teach him it is far more honourable to fail than to cheat…
  •

  • Teach him to have faith in his own ideas, own ideas, even if everyone tells him they are wrong…
  •

  • Teach him to be gentle with gentle poeple and tough with tough. Try to give my son strength, not to follow the crowd when everyone is getting on the bandwagon…
  •

  • Teach him to listen to all men, but teach him also to filter all he hears on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes through…
  •

  • Teach him, if you can how to laugh when he is sad…
  •

  • Teach him there is no shame in tears…
  •

  • Teach him to scoff at cynics and to beware of too much sweetness…
  •

  • Teach him to sell his brawn and brain to the highest bidders; but never to put a price tag on his heart and soul…
  •

  • Teach him to close his ears to a howling mob… and to stand and fight if he thinks he’s right.
  •

  • Treat him gently but do not cuddle him because only the test of fire makes fine steel.
  •

  • Let him have courage to be impatient…
  •

  • Let him have the patience to brave.
  •

  • Teach him to always have sublime faith in himself because then he will always have sublime faith in mankind.
  •

  • This is a big order; but see what you can do…. He is such a fine little fellow, my son.
  • I read this in daily Dawn Pakistani NewsPaper, i think in year 2003 and i simply loved it.

    motivation

Theme of the post is to highlight the points which can help us develop our vital times.

  • A lot of people focus on theoretical knowledge, but ignore other behavioural aspects so critical to success, So in addition to planning and organising, we need to have highly developed communication, influencing and motivation skills.
  •

  • Life is a business of business, hence our business sense must be acute as well, so we should always be in touch with how different organizations adopts different business processes. E.g Retail companies, Industrial Companies, SuperStores, Construction Companies, Stock Exchange, how budgeting works in different organizations, even recently i was so curious that how budgeting of Govt Works. i.e how they allocate to military, education, wheat and other industries.
  •

  • Relationship skills is very important feature, how we interact with others, keep in mind businessman never make foes.
  •

  • ‘Helicopter View’, it’s a most difficult thing to develop or have a helicopter view of life but atleast we can try to create this view in our imagination, but sense of reality is important and should be considered.
  •

  • Constantly evolving and growing is another most important aspect in dynamic life, hence we should be excited, intelligent and active enough to change our direction, so that we can reach our destiny with an alternate dynamic path.
